John Corcoran is the author of the book, The Teacher Who Couldn't Read, a memoir of his years as a non-reader who did not learn to master the written word until the age of 48. Corcoran’s 1994 autobiography catapulted him into the national spotlight as a literacy advocate and champion for those who linger in the sub-culture of illiteracy. Corcoran’s second book, Bridge to Literacy: No Child – or Adult – Left Behind is a powerful call to action to eradicate illiteracy still prevalent in America.

He is a passionate and respected speaker who has spoken across the United States, Canada, and Europe to students, professional and volunteer teachers, civic groups and organizations, as well as to small businesses and Fortune 500 companies. He has appeared on 20/20, Larry King Live, CNN, Fox News, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tavis Smiley Show and has done more than 200 radio and television interviews including Dr. James Dobson's "Focus on the Family."
