English Language Learners
English-language instruction is available to adults whose native language is other than English so they may become self-sufficient, confident members of our community. Students learn conversation, vocabulary and pronunciation in addition to the basic skills instruction as offered in Adult Basic Skills.

Adult students use interactive computer curricula with supplemental one-on-one tutoring to improve their basic skills or English language usage. This instructional method allows us to develop an educational program tailored to each individual’s needs and abilities. Students develop a variety of immediately useful skills such as keyboarding and general computer operation, which are required in an ever-increasing number of workplace situations.
bulletStudents must be literate in their native language or must have received individual tutoring.
bulletStudents must be eighteen years of age or older.
bulletStudents must be able to make substantial progress working on computer curricula without constant one-on-one support from Learning Lab staff, volunteer tutors, or an outside assistant.
